for the adventurous, unscripted, and sentimental
Your wedding day should feel like you — not a checklist, not a performance, not a production.
From Shenandoah's ridgelines to the Blue Ridge Parkway's overlooks, Virginia is full of stunning places to say "I do." Let's find the one that fits your story.
A documentary eye for the in-between moments — the nervous laughter, the hand squeeze before the vows, the way you look at each other when you think nobody's watching.
When you remove the audience, the timeline, and the pressure, you get to actually experience your wedding day. I'm there to preserve it — you're free to live it.
From a just-the-two-of-you adventure to an intimate gathering of your favorite people.
Just the two of you (and me, quietly in the background). Your vows, your adventure, your way — on a mountaintop, by a waterfall, somewhere you can get mud on your boots or feel sand under your feet.

About Alysa
I'm a Virginia elopement and microwedding photographer for couples who want their wedding day to feel like them — adventurous, unscripted, and sentimental. Your love story is yours. Let's photograph it that way.
More About MeNo complicated 47-step processes. Just four things.
Tell me a little about you two — your vision, your date, what makes you excited about eloping.
We'll hop on a call and actually talk. I want to know you're as excited about this as I am.
I'll help with location scouting, timing, permits — whatever you need. You're not alone in this.
Show up, say your vows, and let me handle the rest. I'll be there, camera in hand, tears probably optional.
Planning guides, location secrets, and real stories.

The part that means the most.
From our first interaction, Alysa's communication was fast, thorough, and thoughtful, putting us at ease throughout the planning process. She was a calming presence, going with the flow and adapting seamlessly to the flow of events — and even coming up with backup plans that worked out beautifully when Plan A didn't work out! Alysa's work is truly delicate and tasteful, with a documentarian style that captured all the special moments we'll treasure forever. She was an absolute joy to work with.
From start to finish she put us at ease. There was 0 stress the morning of because she had provided such an amazing plan. Planning an elopement from a different state, 10 hours away, seems like such an overwhelming thought. Alysa made it a breeze! From recommending locations, to cultivating a timeline that included travel times, right down to dinner recommendations. Our day was nothing short of perfect. Alysa truly captured our love and her calming, laid back aura made it so natural for us to enjoy our day without overthinking any detail.
Alysa was so responsive from day one, and with her very knowledgeable input we figured out a foolproof, gorgeous location and the perfect time to get the exact sunset, mountaintop elopement photos I was picturing in my head — and on short notice! The photos came out AMAZING. Absolutely gorgeous, impeccable quality. I cried when I saw them, which made my husband cry. My mom cried. My sisters cried. These photos are now some of my most cherished possessions.
Alysa is the absolute best elopement photographer! We feel so lucky to have found her. From our first meeting, to getting photos back, she made us feel so comfortable and stress-free. When the weather took a change for the worse, she immediately adapted and our photos and experience were better than we could have ever imagined! She has such a great eye for creative photos and will ensure you are comfortable even if you tend to be camera shy like my husband is. We love looking back on our wedding day photos as they truly capture our love in the small, in-between moments. We recommend her to any couples who love the outdoors!
Alysa was amazing to work with on wedding photos! We had a day all planned out then the weather changed. She was quick to offer last minute adjustments. Oh my, was it worth it! Our photos turned out so beautiful! We were able to be in the moment and soak in the glorious sunrise as she snapped away by capturing memories that will last a lifetime. We would highly recommend her!
Everything you need to know to get started.
My primary focus is Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway — both roughly 75 miles from Washington DC and endlessly beautiful for outdoor ceremonies. I also photograph elopements across Virginia more broadly: the coast, Charlottesville and Central Virginia, Southwest Virginia, and beyond. If you have a location in mind, reach out and I'll tell you honestly if it's a good fit.
Collections start at $2,000 for a 4-hour ceremony and portrait session. An 8-hour day is $4,000, and full 12-hour coverage is $5,800. All packages include unlimited digital downloads, timeline help, consultation calls, and travel within Virginia. See the full pricing page for everything that's included.
In Shenandoah National Park, no permit is required if your total group is 15 people or fewer — that includes you, your partner, your photographer, your officiant, and any guests. Sixteen or more requires a $150 Special Use Permit. The Blue Ridge Parkway requires a permit for any ceremony regardless of group size. I help every couple navigate this.
An elopement is typically just the two of you — maybe an officiant and photographer — entirely focused on your experience rather than hosting guests. A microwedding brings in your closest people: 20 to 80 guests who genuinely matter. Both are intimate by design, but the vibe and logistics are quite different. I photograph both.
For fall dates in Shenandoah (September through mid-November), booking 10–12 months out is a safe guideline — fall is my busiest season and dates fill fast. For spring, summer, and winter, 6–9 months usually works well. I do occasionally have last-minute openings, so it's always worth reaching out even if your date feels soon.
Yes. Virginia is my home base and Shenandoah is my primary focus, but I'm happy to travel for the right story. If you're dreaming of a different national park or a destination that just feels right for you, let's talk.
I have limited availability each year — let's make sure your date is open.
