Truly, all seasons in Shenandoah National Park have their advantages and are equally beautiful in their own way. But here are 5 reasons why you should take a closer look at the Summer season for your Shenandoah National Park elopement.
The Summer season allows for so many opportunities to have an intimate elopement without other people around you, unlike the Fall season when the park is crazy busy. If you’re looking for a weekend, aim for sunrises only and you’ll have the whole place to yourself.

There’s nothing more magical than walking through the forests of Shenandoah NP in the Summer. Everything is lush and green with wildflowers popping up everywhere and birds singing in the distance. It’s simply wonderful.

You’ll be comfortable. Don’t go in the middle of the day, obviously. But you can plan to go in the mornings or in the evenings (or even both if you’re splitting up the time in your elopement, which I definitely recommend). The summer morning/evening breeze is so relaxing and serene. You won’t have to worry about sweating too much or trying to bundle up in between shots or maybe not feeling your fingers from the cold.

Everything is in full swing in the Summer. You can feel the quiet energy everywhere. There are more options for restaurants, activities, and places to visit in and around the park during the Summer season.

In the Summer, the entire park is incredible for the whole season. Sometimes, it can be difficult to pinpoint when the park will have peak foliage in advance and even then, a good windstorm or rainfall can wipe out the leaves too early. You won’t have to worry about that in the Summer because everything is beautiful all season long.
I’m not saying the Fall season in Shenandoah NP isn’t absolutely stunning and enchanting because it 100% is, as long as you know where and when to go.
All I’m saying is that it might be worth taking a closer look at the Summer season too because it can be just as magical and incredible for your elopement.
